Backing Community Cooking at St James Church
Wednesday 10th June 2026
Trade Centre UK Ambassador Mike Doyle recently visited St James Church in Lions Park, Oldbury, an area affected by deprivation and knife crime, as part of the company’s Community Engagement Programme.
During the visit, Doyle met church staff and learned about the services they provide to residents. The church runs a range of activities for people of all ages and aims to offer a safe and supportive environment for the community.
The Church also supports the youth club, helping youngsters and their parents with any problems they may be facing. Chris, the church leader, was very happy to see Mike during the visit and even enjoyed a game of table football with him.

Speaking after the visit, Mike said:
“This church is a real community hub. From supporting young people to helping families through difficult times, the team here is making a genuine difference every day.”
The church plans to introduce a community cooking class to help families and young people develop practical skills and connect through shared meals. Trade Centre UK has pledged to supply the ingredients and food needed to support the programme for this next year.
Mark Bailey Founder and Director of Trade Centre UK, said:
“St James Church is doing exceptional work where support is needed most. By funding food and ingredients for the next year, we’re helping create opportunities, teach valuable skills, and bring local families together.”
The initiative is part of Trade Centre UK’s broader support for local community organisations.
