Trade Centre UK and Mike Doyle Deliver Festive Joy to Dudley Children’s Ward

In the lead-up to Christmas, Trade Centre UK is proud to support children spending time in hospital during the festive season. This week, Trade Centre Wales brand ambassador Mike Doyle paid a heart-warming visit to the Children’s Ward at Russell Hall Hospital in Dudley, bringing with him a special delivery.

Mike spent Tuesday morning meeting staff, parents, and young patients in the ward’s play area. His visit brought smiles all around, with an atmosphere described as “really lovely” thanks to the warmth and dedication of the hospital team.

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting local communities, Trade Centre UK is donating £500 worth of toys, books, and play items to help create a welcoming and comforting environment for children recovering on the ward. These toys can be enjoyed in the playroom or by a child’s bedside as they heal after surgery or treatment.

“We are incredibly proud to support the amazing work being done at Russell Hall Hospital,” said Mark Bailey, Trade Centre UK. “Seeing the joy these gifts bring to children—especially at this time of year—is truly special. The staff here go above and beyond every day, and we’re honoured to play a small part in brightening the experience for families.”

Sam, Fundraising & Events Manager for the Dudley Group NHS Charity, expressed gratitude for the donation and the visit, noting how much it means to the families who rely on the hospital’s care.

Rachel, Play Facilitator on the ward, emphasised the importance of play in a child’s recovery, explaining that the playroom is a “valuable part of the hospital”. She added that providing opportunities for play helps to ease the anxiety many children feel when coming into hospital.

This Christmas, the ward will also host a special Santa’s Grotto, bringing extra magic to children spending the holidays in hospital. These seasonal touches help make their stay a little more comforting—and a little more joyful.

Hospital staff expressed how grateful they were, highlighting that sometimes “people just want someone to talk with and help their child.” Acts of kindness, conversation, and care can make all the difference.
