The Trade Centre UK has donated more than £1,000 to a number of Birmingham charities after bidding above the odds at a recent charity car auction.

The used car specialists, due to open a new superstore on a 12-acre site in the West Midlands this spring, successfully bid £5,050 for a red 2012 Vauxhall Astra donated by the British Car Auction at an event in Perry Barr. The car was valued at £4,000 at the time of auction.

The funds were donated to the Birmingham Lord Mayor’s Charity Appeal, which supports a number of charities, including Cancer Research UK and Fischer House UK - a 'home away from home' for military patients and their families, based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

A community player

Andy Coulthurst, chief executive of The Trade Centre UK, said: “It was wonderful to be able to contribute to charities in Birmingham that are doing so much good for those in the local area – we’ll display this car with pride on our new forecourt as a reminder of how important local causes are.

“We’re a community-centric business, so it’s exciting to be establishing a new home in the West Midlands this year. The Trade Centre UK is a customer-focused company and many of our future clientele will no doubt know of someone who has been touched by those who work at these exceptional charities. It’s key to us that we become a valuable addition to this thriving community.”

The new superstore

The Trade Centre UK is the first venture into England of used car specialists The Trade Centre Wales, which has showrooms in Neath, Merthyr and Abercynon. It will be located on the site of a vacant supermarket facility in Wednesbury, and will stock 1,200 used cars, creating 200 new full-time jobs across sales, administration and vehicle preparation.

The West Midlands premises is undergoing total reconfiguration to suit the brand’s customer-centric process and will act as both the retail operation and central preparation facility for additional stores in the region.
