The West Midland’s leading used car retailer Trade Centre UK is well on track to reach its target of raising £30,000 across the month of September for the NSPCC and Childline. For each of the first thousand cars it sells this month, Trade Centre UK is donating £30. Once complete, this unique fundraising initiative will take the total amount the Trade Centre group has raised for the NSPCC over past 8 years to over £350,000.
The September fundraiser is supported by a specially created campaign of radio commercials featuring Childline founder Dame Esther Rantzen. These are being aired on commercial radio stations across the region.
Trade Centre UK’s target of £30,000 is the amount it costs Childline to run its service for the whole of the UK for a day. An average of 3,456 children contact Childline every day for free confidential help. As well as its telephone helpline Childline, which is now run by the NSPCC, also engages with young people via its website and confidential online chatroom.
Patrick Weaver, Associate Head of Philanthropy at the NSPCC said: “We are so grateful to Trade Centre UK for initiating this fantastic new campaign for Childline. The more people and companies who commit to raising £30,000 to fund Childline each day will ensure we are there for every child who needs to contact Childline for help. Trade Centre Wales have been friends of NSPCC for a number of years and share the same belief, that every child has the right to be happy and safe. Working with their staff and customers helps spread the word that everyone has a role to play in keeping children safe”.
Trade Centre UK’s CEO, Andy Coulthurst said: “Trade Centre UK’s support for the NSPCC continues and we are extremely proud of our close ties with this amazing charity. With our focus this year on Childline, we know that the £30,000 we’re about to raise will make a real difference to the lives of thousands of young people that contact the service every day. By funding their UK operation for one day, we’re also helping to highlight the ongoing need to keep Childline foremost in people’s minds. As a family focused business, Trade Centre UK is already planning our next NSPCC fundraiser”.
