The team at Trade Centre UK, the West Midland’s leading used car retailer, set themselves the ambitious target in September of raising £30,000 for NSPCC Childline. For each of the first thousand cars sold the company donated £30.
Within 3 weeks they’d “smashed it”! Last week Trade Centre UK Chairman, Mark Bailey personally handed the donation over to Childline founder Dame Esther Rantzen.
The Trade Centre group’s latest fundraising initiative takes the total amount the company has raised for the NSPCC over the years to over £350,000.
£30,000 is the amount it costs to run Childline in the UK for a day. An average of 3,456 children contact the service every day for free confidential help. As well as its telephone helpline, Childline also engages with young people via its website and confidential online chatroom.
Patrick Weaver, Associate Head of Philanthropy at the NSPCC said: “We are so grateful to Trade Centre UK for initiating this fantastic campaign. Working with their staff and customers helps spread the word that everyone has a role to play in keeping children safe”.

By funding Childline for a day, we’re also helping to highlight the ongoing need to keep the charity foremost in people’s minds.
