Getting to know TCUK…

We take five with the new general manager of The Trade Centre UK, Jim Bertram, to find out what’s exciting him most about the new superstore, his favourite car and his similarities with Robert Carlisle.

  1. What are you most excited about ahead of the opening of the new site at Wednesbury?

It has to be seeing the development of all the staff we’ve taken on. Since the interview stages, we have witnessed a great team pulling together and I am really looking forward to opening our amazing new space with a group of fantastic people behind me.

  1. What’s your favourite car and why?

That’s easy – a Bentley Continental GT has been my favourite for a few years. It simply oozes class and style.

  1. What’s your proudest moment so far?

My proudest moment was accepting the job to be at the helm of the new site and being accepted very quickly into the Trade Centre UK family. It’s like I’m part of the furniture now!

  1. What’s the best thing about the West Midlands?

It’s got to be the cultural diversity here. I think that having a team with a variety of backgrounds, experiences, heritages and personalities will help us learn from each other as we go.

  1. Who would play you in a film about your life and why?

That’s a difficult one, but I think it would have to be Robert Carlisle. We both came from humble beginnings in a small, Scottish village. He is direct, passionate and leads by example, which is something that I aspire to be. Oh, and he’s also a huge Rangers fan too.
