Wednesday 8th April 2026
Trade Centre UK’s Community Engagement Programme is shining a light on a new space people can come together to combat loneliness and build meaningful connections.
Community Engagement Ambassador Mike Doyle recently visited The Shedders at Tanhouse Community Centre – an inspiring initiative making a real difference to people’s lives.
The Shedders is a space with a true Men’s Shed ethos, bringing together retired men, many of whom have experienced loneliness, to share their time, skills, and craftsmanship. From building furniture to creating practical items for the local community, the group showcases an incredible level of talent and dedication.
More than just a workshop, The Shedders provides vital support for mental health and wellbeing. It offers members a welcoming environment where they can connect, talk openly, and support one another through life’s challenges.
CEP Coordinator Adam reflected on the visit:
“I was so impressed with the setup and the warm welcome. Listening to their incredible stories, it’s clear this is a shed full of true stories and remarkable talent.”
Mike Doyle added:
“It’s a space bringing together retired men, many of whom have experienced loneliness, and turning that into something incredibly positive. Seeing the craftsmanship, the camaraderie, and hearing those true stories really brings home just how important places like this are.”
Mark Bailey, Founder and Director of Trade Centre UK, added:
“Places like The Shedders are vital to our communities, for the connection, support, and sense of purpose they provide to their members. It’s inspiring to see such passion and skill being shared so generously.”
Trade Centre UK is proud to highlight and support initiatives like The Shedders, which continue to strengthen communities and improve lives.
